Welcome to the sale of my lovely defender 110 300TDi HiCap pickup.
It has covered 147k miles, has only just been serviced - complete with cambelt & tensioners, - and is on the road with 11+ months MOT and 5 months tax. It coincidentally has a nice '110' registration number too.
I bought this Landy a month ago as a bit of a project, which seemed irresistible at the time. It was not running well and after 16 years of commercial use – was untidy. I have had most of the bodywork off (both wings, both doors, floorpan & tunnel, bonnet, grill, rear tub, tailgate) to replace various components to bring it back to the condition you see in the pictures. I have spent over £1500 in parts alone during this period. Externally it is in good straight shape with many replacement/new panels (the front wings are the new fangled ABS ones which shrug off dents easier). It has a new front bumper too. The interior is smart (for an older Landy!) and has seen both outer seat squabs recovered plus the drivers seat back & headrest, along with a new headlining and new mats/pedal rubbers. Structurally it is very sound – the chassis has been welded before, but neatly, and I have sprayed litres of oil through it to preserve the inside of the rails. The bulkhead is original and very good, and the two doors both open/shut/lock easily (and with the same key!) as they should, and the steel door frames are in very good shape. Both doors still have the original door cards. Much of the bodywork has been repainted, and the inside of the rear tub has been blasted back to clean bare aluminium. Mechanically it has had various seals replaced, new rear brakes (discs, caliper pistons & seals, pads), new brake lines & fully fresh fluid, new rear shocks and rear half of the exhaust system, a remachined cylinder head from Cylinder Head Services in Bilston (refaced, new valves, valves re-seated and with new seals) – this also has the additional cooling drilling/modification to help prevent future headgasket problems- along with fresh oil, oil/air/diesel filters, pink antifreeze/coolant, and a new cambelt & tensioners kit (Dayco). It rides on 4 good tyres, one of which is new, and there is a steel rimmed spare wheel to go with it. It went through its MOT in August with absolutely no advisories (and a lot of compliments), and the smoke emissions were just 1/10th of what is allowed. There are loads more new/replacement parts on it which I can't even think of right now. I'll try and put together a more comprehensive list with receipts for whoever wants to take it away.
There are some minor points which you might like to consider ... please do bear in mind that it is a 17 year old commercial vehicle with 147k on the clock, so it has obviously seen some action. The aluminium load bed has its fair share of (internal) knocks & scrapes, and the original through. The original Land Rover stereo (radio cassette) is still fitted, but the speakers were in the original headlining (causing half of the sagging problems with it!) – and the replacement headlining does not have speakers fitted. There are therefore no tunes in the vehicle except for the glorious soundtrack of a 300TDi. One of the internal plastic knobs for the bulkhead vent flaps is damaged, but the flap is still operable – and I have included a replacement mechanism/knob but not got around to fitting it. Fitted now itas roll cage as seen winch all the toy to go playin
I have spent a fortune in both time and money on this truck. For this reason I am sorry but there is little movement available in the price, but I think it is very well priced for the condition it's in. Yes, you might get a shabby Td5 for the money ... but do you really want the electronic gremlins that will surely come with
I do have this Landy advertised elsewhere, so it may well be removed at any time
