Description:
Firstly thank you for taking the time to view my listing. Please do not be put of by this warts and all description I am just trying to detail those pointS that I believe important and relevant and as such some may appear overly negative. I am just offering an informed opinion.
Here I have for SALE OR SWAP a recent garage find that was a neglected Yamaha XV 535 VIRAGO. When I acquired the motorcycle it had been stood for quite some time it was last road registered in 2005 and has been SORN since. I think this explains the relatively low miles which I believe to be genuine but I can’t confirm. (It is worth noting that I see no evidence of either the engine or clocks having been changed as both have age patina on them that supports the bike having been stood for a while).
I have no history or documentation for the bike. I have however applied to the DVLA for the V5 but this is slow in arriving. That said I am the owner and would happily offer a full receipt for the bike. I should add I have an HPI report and that shows no issues. I have a key or the ignition and separate key for the fuel cap and seat lock.
Once cleaned off under the dust and grime was a half decent bike. I have sorted the carburettors and given the bike a decent going over and she now runs idles and revs up nicely. The brakes front and back have been cleaned up and returned to fully functional condition and they now do the job they were designed to do. Clutch and gears all engage. I have ridden the bike up and down a private road (wink wink) and she runs and rides fine. Fork seals are okay. There is pitting in the forks but this is beyond the range of fork travel and the seals seem to work. My only gripe is she is running a little rich and miss fires from time to time on the rear cylinder. I think this is spark plug related and new ones have been ordered. However the carburettors may need some fine tuning as well.
The main area I would advise prospective buyer about is her cosmetics. The due to standing she has suffered a little, the chrome work has pitting but I have cleaned it up and now while evident it is in my view acceptable. Both tyres have loads of life left in them. The worst area that I think would need some investment is the tank which needs either repainting or replacing and the front mudguard which is missing. I have not found a replacement yet but I quite like the uncovered front wheel look
So cosmetic TLC is required to make her look beautiful again but she doesn't look to bad now and you could use her as is with an MOT. Alternatively you could make her into a good rat bike if that is your thing. Okay a few other points’ warts and all while I am on. The electrics all work apart from the indicators but I will sort this out before she sells. The neutral bulb needs replacing and she needs a set of mirrors and a set of handle bar grips.
I have other picture that I was not able to post in the advert if you want more then is available to view here please ask
That is about it if you have any questions please email me. She is available for viewing and I would recommend that you did, contact me if you want too. Okay now the boring bits. I have her listed on another site so reserve the right to end the SALE early. Please note I require a deposit of £50 paid immediately to secure the bike and to ensure that you intend to complete the transaction and then cash on collection.
Finally you will need a van to collect the bike as it can not be ridden home. If you do want to ride her home I will get her MOT (at youR cost) contact me if you want that.
