Description:
Here for sale or swap is my Daimler XJ.
The car has done 80000 miles from new and been serviced according to the manufacturer service intervals. It has been kept as part of a collection for most of its life so has been maintained to the highest standard with no expense spared. It comes with all oroginal manuals and folders, and a folder full of receipts and service history.
Paint and body are spotless. No scratches, parking dings or dents. All the chrome trim is there and in excellent condition. There is no underbody rust at all. the chassis and underside are as clean and tidy as the top half.
Interior is a lovely cream leather in excellent condition. The inlaid walnut trim is all original. The door trim panels are cut from one block so it all matches. It has heated and electric adjustable front seats and the split '4 seat' rear bench with fold down arm rest and storage cubby in the middle, along with rear vents and controls for the climate control. Its also equipped with the seat back tables which work and are in as new condition. The boot is dry and has a recent new rubber seal so should stay that way for a long time. The original spare, jack and wheel change tools are there.
All the electrics work as they should. Windows, seats, sunroof, central locking, on board computer, cruise control, original stereo, interior lights, dash etc. There are no electrical faults with this car, which is a rare thing for a jag of this age!
The engine starts first time every time and runs perfectly. No squeaks or rattles, no smoke from the rear. Gearbox is smooth and also in perfect working order.
The original hydraulic brake system, which is known for its faults, has been replaced with a servo assisted setup by the previous owner, at great expense. There is also an electric isolator switch added while it was in storage,
It has been lowered slightly, and will come on a set of standard jaguar steel wheels, all with good tyres.
The car has a long mot and I'm certain it will fly through the next one as it really is a spotless example of a true classic. Prices for these, especially the rarer higher spec daimler models, are on the rise.
Now to the bad points, all cars have them!
The headlining has started to sag a bit.
It pulls very very slightly to the left, I suspect this is a tracking issue as I havent had it done since I changed the wheels. There are no vibrations or knocks to go with it.
The original tool kit is missing (Can be had for £50 on ebay).
The wood trim on the glovebox has a small crack in it and has faded a bit. This could be easily fixed by a wood restorer.
Thats about it... I'm happy to answer any questions.
I am looking for around £1400 for the car and anyone who views it will realise this is a fair price based on its condition. I would prefer a cash sale but am open to all swaps. Try me, whats the worst that can happen...
The wheels in the pictures are not included! They are for sale separately for £650 no offers.
