Here is my teal 850r for sale. I have not had it long, and it has proved to be a tremendous performer in a short period of time..

It has an awful lot of history: full Volvo service history up to 85k miles, and lots of further receipts by a Volvo specialist to 140k miles. The previous owner was mechanically competent and he serviced and modified the car. Literally thousands has been spent on this vehicle over the last several years by him. It is a full manual conversion (Feb 2013) from auto using genuine brand new 850r Volvo parts: m59 gearbox, white injectors + 16t turbo, ECU remap, rear main seal, even the front section of engine bay wiring loom and bolts for the flywheel have been changed.

The manual 850r is the fastest Volvo of this era and even in estate form can run 60mph in around 6.7 seconds. This FWD variant is much lighter and consequently much faster than it's later V70R AWD cousin meaning Volvo did not manufacture a faster car until the noughties. The boy racers and daily have-a-goes don't know what's hit them when they get easily overtaken by a sedate-looking estate, and this is the full manual 250bhp conversion! Don’t let its status as a conversion put you off because automatics are generally driven by mature drivers. The engine therefore is likely to have been thrashed less than an original manual has.

He also added a GWE reverse intercooler pipe, Simota induction kit and 3” throttle body with matching manifold. Other recent work includes new kyb springs, shocks and struts (a known weakness of the car), and a new starting motor. It also has tinted windows. The alloys were refurbished recently and are in perfect condition, and the tyres are nearly brand new.

The interior is in excellent condition for its age. All of the electrics function including heated seats, premium sound system, climate control and electric mirrors, however, the aircon system was taken out by a previous owner at some point. Also, on the issue of bad points, there is a slight chip on the driver’s window screen but this is away from the MOT test area. The bodywork has no dents, but the paintwork needs some work done to restore the car into pristine condition. The bonnet and lower bumper ideally need respraying, and there are some age-related minor scratches and scuffs around the vehicle.

The MOT runs out in November, however, this is nothing really to worry about as the car has been driven less than 2k miles since last year. This is a really great car that has been maintained and modified by a Volvo enthusiast. It runs brilliantly and goes like shit off a stick when you put your foot down.
