1988 Volvo 340 GLE - 29K Miles, Immaculate, 1 Previous owner.

Up for possible swaps is my Volvo 340, It's a 1988 GLE, Top of the range back in the day, Full heated leather etc! It is 100% Standard and original and it is absolutely immaculate. It had one owner from new back in 1988 up until 6 Months ago when i came across it, so i am the second owner, you would be the third.

29700 Miles, Rising as I'm currently using it Daily. The mileage is legitimate and can be prooved via previous MOT's. It has lived its entire life in Wiltshire/Bath, Bought new from Bath with original plates/tax disc holder and rear window sticker.

MOT until around July 2015 (Will check but its not far off that)
Tax until the end of December


The only issue this car has is the floats in the carb have worn out and lost their buoyancy, I have a spare float which was hard to acquire! So all you need to do is strip the carb down and fit them, not a hard job for anyone with mechanical knowledge! The advantage of simple classic cars.

The car still works/drives fine, the only thing the carb floats affect is if you get bodyroll when cornering it gasps for fuel for a second or two, after that it's fine, if you go slow around roundabouts etc it's not even noticeable and sometimes it struggles to start when hot, due to fuel evaporating from the carb, but it always starts, without fail :)

Other than the floats in the carb the car drives 100% spot on, passed its mot with no advisories after being sat for a few years before i got it, I serviced it about 3k Miles ago, Fresh oil + Filter, Plugs, Dizzy cap and leads, Gearbox/Diff oil and Air filter, so is good to go!

It really is an immaculate example and i believe in the three/four years ive been watching these on eBay etc I've only seen one maybe two in better condition!

Reason for wanting to swap is i feel bad putting so many miles on it, I'm currently covering about 1.5K Miles a month in it and that's with being careful, In 2015 I will be doing a lot more miles and don't want to do them in the Volvo because it's a rare low mileage example and i think it would suit somebody better if they used it as a second/weekend car! I have no doubt in its ability to do the mileage i just feel it would be a shame to load the miles onto it.


I'm open to anything swaps, I'm unsure exactly what i want and im just generally browsing, if i don't see anything i want i wont be letting it go, A big lazy auto would be nice, possibly a Hilux Surf diesel or such like, something i can use for work. As would a fun car. Feel free to make me an offer providing it's not stupid im open to suggestions.

I value the Volvo at between 1.5-2K in the condition it's in. I've seen similar go for around that money and this really is a great example, any inspection welcome and can be test driven with proof of insurance or i can take you out for a drive in it!
