Ford Capri 1.6 Laser, fitted with rebuilt 2.0
Location: Wales - caernarfon
Swap Value: £2.000+
Description:
I have had this Capri for over a year or so, and have spend a lot of time, money, and effort getting it to how it is now!! im passing it on to a new owner now as ive had a lot of fun with it, but fancy another classic now, so im looking for a Mk2 escort, cortina, or something interesting
so she is up for sale / a deal (cant say swap ;) )
there are not many areas of this car that have not been replaced or reconditioned. she came to me last year as a Paris Blue 1.6 laser. fairly standard with a dented front drivers wing. i have included some pictures from before it was orange.
since then she has had:
replacement drivers wing
brand new discs and pads
rebuilt front calipers
rebuilt front struts
poly bushed front end
new track control arms
back axle reconditioned
new rear brakes
new rear valence fitted
brand new single leaf rear springs (not saggy second hand ones!)
as well as the above, the existing 1.6 was removed and a fully rebuilt 2.0 high compression pinto was fitted with an AP clutch:
new shell bearings
piston rings
head skimmed
valves reground
RS2000 alloy big wing sump
electronic ignition
all gaskets and seals replaced
new water pump
new oil pump
viscous fan removed and thermostatically controlled electric fan fitted
brand new alternator
following that a rebuilt weber 32/36 DGAV carb and manifold was fitted, and a brand new sportex 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, and 2" complete sports exhaust with a 3" rolled tip tailpipe. it has also had an electronic facet fuel pump fitted, complete with inertia switch and fully relayed.
early this year I decided to remove the horrid plastic rubbing strips that were fitted to the lasers, and 2.8s as I think they ruin the lines of the car. at this stage the car was wrapped in high gloss orange vinyl, as close as possible to signal orange. so please not that this car is not painted, it is a vinyl wrap!! this should last for approx 12 yrs if kept in a garage, or 5 yrs if the car lives outside.nobody ever really realises that the car is wrapped until i tell them! I also fitted the "S" stipes and decals, these are great quality from DMB graphics
i have added some pics of the car before the wrap so you can see that its not covering filler.
the orignal interior has changed somewhat! the laser seats have been removed, and front and rear seat have been custom fitted from a Nissan 200SX, in black leather. very comfortable, and fit really well! The terrible original dashboard illumination issue has been rectified by fitted dimmable red LED lighting to the clocks heater control, centre clock and the flood lit footwell. i did also add white dial faces but these have bee removed as they looked cheap!. the heater also benefits from a brand new heater blower motor and fully adjustable speed controller.
she was mot'd in may, and is taxed until next year. I have covered 10,000 miles in it last year and it has been utterly reliable, and a pleasure to drive. some of the pictures are just after the car was wrapped , but before the wheels were painted. the original laser alloys now have black spokes as seen in the pics, and the number plates are B/W pressed, but i do have the orignal plates still. the tow bar fitted is fully functional, but can quickly removed by 4 bolts and a waterproof multi-plug in the boot for the wiring.
I will not be giving this car away as im not desperate to sell! it will be replaced by another old ford, so let me know if you have something I may be interested in.
any questions please ask, but dont offer to swap me your saxo or focus, because you will be ignored!!!!
viewing always welcome, specific pics can be taken and emailed on request.
Thanks for looking !!!
