1992 Kawasaki ZXR 400 L

Location: Scotland - Glasgow
Swap Value: £1.000+

Description:

Hello,

Thank you for looking at my advert.

I'm selling or swapping my 1992 Kawasaki ZXR 400.

I bought this last year as a project bike and have now completed building it.

The bike is a 1992 Model ( L ) and has 55,000 kilometers on the clock. (55,000 Kilometres is 34,175 miles)

The speedometer is in MPH.

When I bought the bike, it had aftermarket fairings that were yellow in colour. I've since replaced these with the above Green / White colour scheme.

The bike benefits from the following: ( The following was on the bike when I purchased it)

Predator Full Exhaust System ( Road Legal - sounds nice though)

Since purchase, I've spent a fair amount of money to bring it to where it is today. The following work has been completed on it:

New HEL Braided Brake Lines
New RK Chain and Sprocket Kit
New font indicators
New Rear Tyre - Pirelli Strada (about 300 miles old)
Replacement Genuine Kawasaki Fairing
Replacement Genuine Kawasaki Petrol Tank
New Brake Disks
New Brake Pads
New Brake Caliper Pistons front and rear
New Front Fork Seals
New Oil + Oil Filter
New Spark Plugs
New Front and Rear Brake Fluid
New Front Brake Lever
New Clutch Lever

The work was carried out by a mechanic that is ex- Victor Devine and ex- Irvine Superbikes.

The rear tyre was supplied and fitted by Dynotech Ecosse.

As with any project, I have accumulated a few spare parts / extra bits and pieces, these consist of:

Genuine Kawasaki ZXR 400L Petrol Tank
Genuine Kawasaki ZXR 400L Rear Shock Absorber
Genuine Kawasaki ZXR 400L Replacement Left & Right Fairing in Gitanes Blue
Genuine Kawasaki ZXR 400L Replacement Left & Right Rear Seat Panels in Gitanes Blue

I think I've a couple of other bits and bobs, however at the moment I'm at work - more detail to follow soon.

The Kawasaki enthusiasts will notice that the frame is black and the paint scheme is the Green / White.

From the research I've conducted, I believe that the original colour of this bike was Kawasaki's " Gitanes " Blue. I've got the spare fairings (mentioned above) however they are slightly worse for wear and maybe need some fibreglassing to bring them back to their original shape.

The bike is mechanically sound and does not miss a beat. As with other ZXR 400's, the engine sounds a bit rough when cold, however when warmed up, runs perfectly without any issues or smoke.

The bad points of the bike I would say are the following:

Only 1 wing mirror ( on the right hand side)
Could do with being touched up cosmetically - looks have never bothered me - it's how it runs that's important
Slight rip on one of the false RAM Air Tubes
Slight Rip on seat.

The bike is taxed and MOT's untill September or October this year - I will double check this.

Buyers or Swappers are welcome to come and view the bike, however there will be NO test rides UNLESS FULL PROOF OF INSURANCE & CASH PRICE IN MY HAND.

I'm looking to sell the bike for £1350 or sensible & and reasonable offers. I'd also swap for another machine.

I'd consider doing a straight swap for the following:

Lastly, bike enthusiasts would agree that the ZXR400 is one of the best sports bikes / race replicas of the 1990's, from the race machine looks, howl of the exhaust or the razor sharp handling, this machine is a great entry to the sports bike world or a very rewarding machine for experienced sports bike enthusiasts.

It is quickly becoming more than just a cult bike, the ZXR 400 is fast becoming a collectors machine.

Reviews of the Kawasaki ZXR 400L can be on the motorcycle news and visordown websites.
