Hi there, I am interested in swaps for something interesting or serious cash offers.
For sale 1987 vw golf gti (8v) in tornado red with a 20v turbo conversion.
MOT - May 2014
Tax March 14
First of all I will start with the engine ... mk4 golf 20v turbo engine (receipt), mapped with a kos3 recon turbo (rebuilt 500miles ago and receipt to prove of 350). Sits at 1.5 bar boost. The car has a working diagnostic port, walbro fuel pump upgrade, new coil packs, new AAS 2.5 custom down pipe with race tube, new BM carbon enclosed filter, custom front mount with upgraded fan which is on a manual switch, refurbed gearbox and new luck clutch fitted 6months ago and an aggressive map which has been done by big fish. I previously have had tuned escort rs turbos, e36 m3 evo, jaguar, 328i and this is by far the fastest! It can beat my friends 911 carrera 4s up and his has been dynod at 340hp with mods. The car itself has some samco hoses, boost gauge integrated into fan vent, smoothed front bumper, dumpvalve, g60 arches, momo steering wheel (original wheel included), manual fan switch, clean straight bodywork, clean interior, lack of rust in usual places (boot floor, seatbelt holders, battery tray, wiper, doors etc), cross haired clear headlights, front splitter. The car is on fk coilovers which are a good make. When I got the car it was too low to drive every day so I raised it. It still has a good stance yet drivable as a daily runner, 4 good tread tyres, wolfsberg mirror adjusters and door pins.
The car itself is very clean, paintwork is still very shiney, minus a spot on the roof where it machined polished through (previous owner). Paint is not faded, I left it for a few months and the shine still comes through. The shell itself is very solid underneath. Uses no water or oil. Always started off the button - did 500 mile round trip to a vw show and 600 mile road trip up north of Scotland and never missed a beat. I use it as a daily runner.
Still registered as an 8v gti so peanuts for insurance. Comes with single headlight grill if preferred. Comes with a pile of receipts and mot's and tax discs going back to 1988.
Since owning the car I have replaced brake pads, cv joint, ball joint, driveshaft, a few pipes under the bonnet, grill, sorted out some wiring issues, starter motor, new battery. The reason I bought the car is the old school looks yet new school reliablity. It does 60 miles to £10 of fuel mixed driving! My m3 did 30miles to £10 so best of both worlds!
Only bad points I can think of are the boot only opens from inside, speedo and rev counter don't work - new speedo cable included (mk4 engine / mk2 clocks) and the brakes could do with upgrading... same with all golf brakes. Being completely honest because I've been there and seen all the cowboys. Come and see for yourself!
Just testing the water, don't really want to sell unless the right car comes up or the right price.
