Land Rover Discovery 300tdi offroad/greenlaner

Location: North East England - Nr. Darlington/Northallerton
Swap Value: £1.000+
Model: Land Rover     Year: 1997     Mileage: 160,000 miles

Description:

Here we have my 300TDi Landrover Discovery. She has done 160,000 miles but don't let that put you off, she's been well looked after and serviced regularly - little known fact these engines are good for over 1/4 millon miles, some even 1/2 a million!!

She is done up for offroad/greenlaning but due to it being a daily drive I have not gone mad with it.

It is fitted with 235/85 r16 BFGoodrich KM2 mud terrain tyres which are great in the slippy stuff and due to them being over 31" tall they give you reasonable clearance underneath! They are also quiet and hard wearing on the road! (Rare for a MT tyre!)

The bodywork is a bit scratched and has a few dents but overall is in ok condition - for a land rover anyway lol

At the front I have fitted a non-winch HD bumper with recovery points built in - it fastens on with 6 bolts rather than the usual 4 making it even stronger!, it also has a 12mm aluminium steering guard to protect the steering bars. The bullbars have been made to fit round both the bumper mount and steering guard mount and have two 8" wipac spot lights fitted with 130w bulbs relayed off main beams which are great in the dark! Also it has a home made light bar with 4 lights on which are controlled from a seperate switch on the instrument binnacle. The headlights have also been fitted with 8000k HIDs which look great and are awesome on dark roads! - They are E marked and has passed MOT with these bulbs in!

Fitted to the roof, besides the lightbar is a dual rotator amber recovery beacon controlled from a switch on instrument binnacle, twin CB ariels (one for show) and twin rear worklights also controlled from switches on binnacle. The beacon and ariels are magnetic mounted so can be removed if needed. There is also a home-made snorkel fitted which has been tested when we got the bad floods before christmas as this was the only vehicle capable of getting in/out of my village due to water easily being over bonnet!!

Underneath it has had all its welding done (other than a recent hole about the size of a 5p which has been tapped to make sure its sound and kurust-ed until I can get to a welder to buzz a small plate on!) It had new suspension all round (bearmach blue HD std height and armstrong HD dampers) around 18month ago, It has a custom straight through which due to the cat still being fitted is not loud, just has a nice note to it. New steering damper 2yr ago same time swivels were rebuilt with new seals/bearings/balls. It has had the anti roll bars left on as it articulates well anyway and also they stiffen her up on the road, also it has had the tow bar left on for 2 reasons 1) it protects the fuel tank quite well and 2) this is a great tow car and has done us proud a few times! Also its wheel bearings are checked for play and if neccesary adjusted roughly once a month, and periodically strip down check/replace if they are getting a bit tired.

Inside its a bit grubby due to the conditions its been used in but it has a 10 disk multichanger, 600w 240volt inverter (great for powering tools on a laning trip!) CB radio with a 100w booster tucked well out the way.

Engine had the head reconditioned just before its MOT, new alternator 3 months ago, rebuilt turbo 2 month ago, new waterpump roughly a year ago and a new lift pump around same time. It has a quite powerful electric intercooler fan which helps when working it at low speeds. Had a cam belt 2k ago, serp belt around 8k ago. Oil+filter changes have been within 6000 miles each time since owning it. Staying in engine bay it had a replacement steering box few about a month ago and also a replacement steering shaft.

Bad bits - other than the couple of things mentioned there are a couple more - Rocker cover leaks needs a new gasket, gearbox leaks after a long run (50+miles), gearbox crunches into 2nd if your thrashing it away from a junction.

I think I have been quite honest describing it, I cant think of anything else lol.

Not convinced I do want to swap itas its a great truck and it is well looked after but I do fancy something a bit different, just not sure what - so what you got??

I want to swap for

Something that takes my fancy. WHY?
