A vehicle purchase is a large investment. We always recommend that you HPI check (or similar) any vehicle that you are considering buying.
It is important to remember that swapz has no integrated payment method and does not offer any guarantee or compensation schemes. Therefore, if you come across an item where the seller is claiming any buyer protection then, please beware.
Swapz doesn’t offer, or have integrated, any escrow or middle-man agent services or systems. There are some escrow services that are not genuine. If a seller tries to convince you, or insist, that you buy through a middle-man agent or escrow services then, please beware!
If you are looking to buy a car, you should expect to talk to the seller directly before even considering to meet up. If the seller is, or appears to avoiding phone contact then, please beware!
Ukash is a service that is offered to family and friends passing money between themselves. It is not a preferred or sensible solution to make payments when making a purchase. If a seller is using, or requesting you use Ukash in this way then, beware!
When swapz introduced the ability to sell on the site we saw it as a service that should be local with members, ideally, meeting face to face. By meeting locally you can see the vehicle. If it is not as described you can walk away.
Use caution and common sense when meeting what is effectively a stranger. Meet in a mainstream and well lit public place and take a friend with you if you can. If you don’t have a friend to take with you, make sure someone knows where you are going and who you are meeting.
Carrying large sums of money in public is not good practice. If the item you are hoping to buy is expensive we recommend you view it first. Once you are happy to go ahead with the purchase you can either go to a bank and withdraw the funds or meet in a safe place.
